Marie Garcia - One Year Anniversary

 

A massive congratulations to Marie Garcia who recently celebrated her one year anniversary with Platform Smart.

Over the past year, Marie has been the catalyst for so much of the positive changes, great content and improvements in Platform Smart’s communications and marketing space. 

Initially brought in to ensure our Associates feel more informed and engaged through our social media channels, I feel Marie has not only expanded the range of content we deliver to our Associates but vastly improved the standard. As she moves into her second year Marie will look to continue the facilitation of growing our library of insightful content, case studies and value add information, all the while focusing on improving our more frequent comms and Associate events.

Marie’s openness to take on new challenges, a wide variety of tasks and willingness to learn embodies the culture we want to foster at Platform Smart. Her energy and great sense of humour are both refreshing and a pleasure to work with.

How would you describe the last 12 months? What have been your highlights of working with Platform Smart? What makes us different?

For me, the last 12 months have been full of learning, development, and new experiences. A highlight has been helping organise our networking associate events. I love handling the preparations and seeing the business come to life on the actual day. As someone who doesn’t speak to associates as often as some of the team, it’s exciting to meet and get to know them better in a casual setting. This experience truly reflects what makes us different. Platform Smart genuinely values everyone in the associate community and you can see this through the time and effort that goes into these events. The relationships within the business are unique, and I’m truly proud to be a part of it.

What has been your favourite piece of content so far this year and why?

This is a tough one! I may be a bit biased, but so much amazing content has been released over the past year thanks to our Associates and Managing Consultants who kindly take time out of their busy days to share their knowledge. If I had to choose one article, it would be ‘Industrial IoT: Where Two Worlds Collide’ by Russell Fowler. I worked closely with Russ and one of our Managing Consultants, Victor Shum, to polish and finalise the article, which involved a few fun Friday catch-ups where I got to know Russ better and hear his interesting insights. In terms of initiatives, my favourite was the International Coffee Day post last year. It was great to see the community come together for a good cause in such a fun and simple way.

What are your plans for the next 12 months? What content is in the pipeline and what ideas do you want to pursue in the next year? Our 10th financial year is on the horizon...

Over the next 12 months, I aim to increase the amount of high-value content, including more articles, interviews, use cases, and maybe some podcast episodes too! I also want to host more events for associates to get involved with beyond networking events, like charity days, to build more face-to-face community interactions. As our 10th financial year approaches, a big celebration is definitely needed to commemorate this milestone, and we’ll need to start preparations very soon which we will keep our associates well updated on.

You are at the front and centre of consuming content - What trends have you noticed in the technology space?

Just a disclaimer: I’m not very “techy,” but based on the content I’ve seen, Artificial Intelligence is no doubt one of the biggest trends in technology. More specifically, the integration of AI into everyday applications like customer service chatbots and healthcare diagnostics is significant. I think this will definitely impact our overall experience and its reliability. Another interesting trend I’ve noticed is how AI is enhancing content and personalisation feeds on social media, making them more tailored to our interests. This means we’ll see much more relevant posts, ads, and recommendations. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has had moments where I think my phone is listening to me after seeing something I was just thinking or talking about.
