Technology Leadership ‘as-a-service’ for top European Law Firm

The Client

Our client acts as trusted legal counsel to leading investors across Emerging Europe and Central Asia. Since their inception in their reputation for quality, excellence and integrity speaks for itself with offices in 11 jurisdictions and over 350 lawyers and designated lawyers with whom it cooperates as well as a wealth of professional support lawyers, who work in specialist practice areas to deliver the highest quality advice. They offer a versatile blend of international lawyers and local lawyers with solid experience overseas.

The Challenge

Our client was seeking to enhance its operational efficiency and competitiveness in today's digital landscape, requiring robust technology leadership services that would provide a clear technology strategy and direction.  This needed to include not only identifying emerging technologies relevant to legal practice but also aligning IT initiatives with the firm's overall business goals.  By engaging technology leadership, the firm ensures that its IT department is guided by innovative practices and best-in-class solutions, which can streamline workflows, enhance collaboration, and improve client services

Platform Smart’s Solution Overview

As part of its Technology Leadership as a Service offering, Platform Smart implemented a virtual Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to assess the current technological landscape, business priorities, and strategic objectives. Collaborating closely with the client and broader Platform Smart team, the virtual CTO successfully formulated a comprehensive technology strategy that transitioned from a legacy thin-client architecture to a more cloud-centric approach.

The Outcome

Platform Smart provided the client with a clear Technology Strategy Briefing Pack, ensuring all client-side stakeholders understood the technology direction and underpinning principles behind the strategy.  A technology and investment roadmap were also delivered that provided a clear path and step by step guide for the execution of the strategy.  A review of the organisational structure of the Technology Team was also carried out and a new Target Operating Model (TOM) was developed and implemented along with training plans to ensure a smooth adoption of the new technologies being implemented.
