Company Update - December 2024

We are now in December, getting ready for the festive season and it seems as though the Summer is a distant memory, if you can indeed call that a Summer.

Having completed our Q1 of this Financial Year, I’m pleased to report that we are ahead of the budget that we set out in September, a very strong start to our 10th year trading as a business. We have seen strong growth in almost all sectors and clients despite having seen the freelance/contractor market struggle for what seems to be an eternity. We hope that this trend continues, creating new and exciting opportunities for our community of experienced professionals to engage in.

During the summer we successfully completed our brand update, with a more focused and refined vision, mission and set of business aspirations, our efforts have now moved onto how we accelerate the attraction and retention of new clients. In order to maximise the opportunity, we have made a number of key changes to senior personnel within the organisation. Firstly, Simon Bliss has transitioned into the role of Head of Business Development, he has already settled into the role and has a number of really positive conversations going on with potential targets and we are hopeful that a number of these will start converting either side of Christmas.

In addition to this, we have seen Oscar transition from the Head of the Associate Programme to join the Managing Consultant team, looking after several accounts including P&O Ferries, Sedgwick and IVC initially. The Associate Programme is the very heart of Platform Smart, and we are looking at the gap that Oscar leaves behind to ensure that we continue to evolve and improve the Programme over the coming months and years.

Outside of client-related activity, we have recently published an updated version of our Sustainability Strategy, which defines our commitment to driving positive environmental and social impact. We encourage everyone to go on over to our website and have a look to understand the initiatives we are working on and progress against these. We of course welcome feedback, good or bad.

Our recent Associate Event in London was one of our best yet, with over 120 attendees. It was fantastic to see so many familiar and new faces, with plenty of smiles, laughter, and meaningful connections made. We believe these events play a vital role in bringing our community together. In addition, we raised an impressive £1,087 in support of Time to Talk through our charity raffle competition.

As we said at the outset of this update, we are fast approaching Christmas and would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our fantastic staff and associates for all of the efforts they put in all year long and of course wish you and your families a fantastic Christmas and some well-deserved downtime.
